Inktober by Caleb Henkelman

Have you ever heard of Inktober? Jake Parker created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. The concept was simple, create one ink drawing every day in October. Sharing his drawings through Instagram, Parker’s project quickly went viral and soon became a worldwide phenomenon. Every year, Parker chooses a one-word prompt for each day in October, and artists around the world create unique drawings to match his prompts.

In October of 2020, Carter Avenue Frame Shop’s very own Caleb Henkelman participated in the Inktober challenge as a back-to-basics artistic endeavor. He woke up early each day before work to complete a drawing from Parker’s 2020 prompt list. Working in shades of black and gray from his own photographs, Caleb pushed his artistic ability and reconnected with the fundamentals of drawing.

The 5″x7″ drawings are now available at Carter Avenue Frame Shop for $100 each. Stop by to get yours and chat with Caleb about his experience!
